The fieldcraft training syllabus consists of a number of exciting and fun activities you will complete as a group, these include how to cook a meal outdoors, how to construct a shelter and how to move effectively as a group without being seen. Like many of the activities offered by the Air Cadet Organisation, Fieldcraft activities are a great opportunity to practice and develop your leadership skills.
Fieldcraft activities are very popular and provide training that gradually increases in technicality and challenge. On your first Fieldcraft weekend you will be taught the basics of how to cook and provide shelter for yourself. Eventually these basic skills could be essential for those attending a course such as Junior Leaders.
Fieldcraft training is done using camouflaged uniform – to save your blue uniform from being damaged. Don’t worry about having to spend lots of money on equipment as most Squadrons are able to supply loan camouflage clothing. If there is nothing in your size they may be able to point you towards the local army surplus store.
